To The Graduating Class Of 2017
Another school year down, another graduating class! It is exciting to see what the future will have in store for all of these young souls! I know how cliche this sounds, but it really does feel like yesterday that I was walking up to the stage, accepting my own high school diploma. Okay, so maybe not yesterday…. but it most definitely does not feel like it was FIFTEEN years ago! Wow!
Take Chances.
I’m not usually great with words. I don’t have the ability to give deep meaningful advice. However, if I could give one bit of advice to graduating seniors, it would be to take chances. The one thing I regret is missed opportunities because I was afraid. Afraid of failure. Afraid of those who were better than me. Afraid of what my friends might think, of what strangers might think. I was so worried about other people’s opinions of me and of what I was doing, that many times I didn’t take any action at all.
It wasn’t until I finally mustered the courage after years of waiting, to pursue some of my goals and dreams, and stepped outside my comfort zone, that I realized that it doesn’t matter! It does not matter what other people think of you. All that matters is what you think of you, and that you don’t let anything hold you back from pursuing your dreams. Most of the time, all of those “people” that you thought would be judging you, actually aren’t, because they are too busy doing their own thing! Once you step outside your comfort zone, that is where the MAGIC happens. When you stay in your comfort zone, you don’t progress. Your dreams don’t progress, and you never find out what could have been.
So, there you have it. 2017 graduating advice from Ashley Harrison! Now is probably a good time to stop and enjoy a few images from a Senior Portrait session I did for a friend’s daughter last summer. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS to all the graduates! You have earned it!

Gorgeous!!
Thanks!
Great advice and beautiful images.
Thanks Mariko! I’m not the best advice person, but I do wish I would’ve learned these things and had more confidence in myself sooner!
How fun! This session is beautiful!
Thank you Katie!
So lovely!
Thank you!
This is a great idea for a blog post! And probably the same advice I would give seniors. Also – love the class ring shot, another good idea!
Thanks for the compliment Dani! I never got a class ring, but kind of wish I did!
