Family Portrait Session in Wilmington

Oh my. I’m not sure how I missed posting these images! This family contacted me last fall about doing a family portrait session. We met for a pre-session consult and discussed some options for their session location throughout New Castle County. Ultimately, we decided on a beautiful location in Wilmington.

The session was very fun and relaxing, and their little boy was such a good sport! I always love when I get to work with clients and it feels like hanging out with old friends. Okay, okay… so the people in this lovely family actually are my friends, but still, it felt great reconnecting with them and getting to know them a little better!

Sessions with new clients usually end up being the similar. Since we usually do have a planning appointment, I am able to get a good feel for what the family is like ahead of time. Also, I always do my best to make a session fun, and attempt to inflict the least amount of torture on everyone, both young and old (because, let’s face it… we all have had to endure portraits that were less than ideal, and somewhat mentally painful, at one point in our lives!)!

By the time the session is over, I feel like I’ve made some new friends. Family portrait sessions don’t always have to be painful! Choosing the right photographer for the job and learning a bit about her process is an important aspect before committing to a session. This is partly why I enjoy doing in person consultations. It helps a session go so much smoother! My business is based off of building relationships with others, so that they can feel comfortable in front of me and allow for their true personality and emotions to shine through their images.
