Okay, I admit it. MAYBE I lost it a little bit. Did I go a little overboard? Perhaps. But what am I supposed to do when I need more hot chocolate and all that greets me is shelves full of different choices? Which one do I pick? How do I choose? As I stood in my local grocery store pondering this extremely important decision, I decided not to choose.  Let’s face it. There is nothing worse in this world than sitting down to sip a nice, hot, cup of delicious hot cocoa, only to be disappointed by mediocre flavor.

Okay, okay… maybe there are like, two or three things that would be worse. Still though, I didn’t want to mess this decision up. This Middletown, DE photographer is freezing. I’m not a happy, cold person. So I bought them all. Well, not quite all of them. Did you know that there are about 157 different varieties of Swiss Miss??? Yeah. Ridiculous! I couldn’t bring myself to buy all of the Swiss Miss, especially the “no sugar” varieties. My hot chocolate needs sugar, like my lungs need air.

I did, however, buy the Swiss Miss Marshmallow Madness. For the kids of course. It kind of reminded me of lucky charms, which, admittedly, I still love. Anyone else still eat the cereal part first and save all the marshmallows for last??? Promise. That box is for the kids.

So, here is an image of my loot. A few days after I bought the majority of the hot chocolate, I was at Trader Joe’s and couldn’t resist picking up a box there as well.

Below, is an image of the varieties that appeal to me the most, that I expect to be my favorites.

My top choices of the best hot chocolate

I haven’t tested these Land O Lakes Cocoa varieties yet, however, I probably could’ve just bought all the mint flavored cocoa and called it a day. We shall see. We shall see.

Lastly, the three packages I have already busted into. Ghirardelli Double Chocolate, Trader Joe’s Organic Hot Cocoa, and Ghirardelli Hot  Cocoa with Chocolate Chips.  So far, the Ghirardelli with chocolate chips is my favorite. Trader Joe’s was top notch as well. The Ghirardelli Double Chocolate was just meh to me, but still drinkable.

I know you will all be wondering, so don’t worry! I will be back with another post detailing all of my hot chocolate taste testing! It doesn’t appear that the weather will be warming up any time soon, so I anticipate having many opportunities to cuddle up and sip my million different varieties of hot cocoa!

If you have a favorite hot chocolate you’d recommend, please, don’t keep it to yourself! Share in the comments below! I want to know about it! Here’s to drinking all the hot cocoas!
